It’s time… for the GLORIOUS 58th annual

Kinetic Grand Championship!

Humboldt County is proud to be the home and birthplace of the “triathlon of the art world”, a wonderfully silly 50-mile race from the Arcata Plaza to Ferndale’s Main Street over three days. Racers build mobile art sculptures and pilot over roads, sand dunes, Humboldt Bay, gravel banks, and the Eel River- dodging man-eating clams and the Great Razooly along the way! Interested? TUNE IN to KRFH over the airwaves at 105.1FM or right here at krfh.net for live coverage, photos, interviews, and song requests. Continue reading for more information below… FOR THE GLORY!

Offishul Map can be found here

A note on spectator and racer safety:

Certain parts of the race will take place on open, public roads- it is important to note that these machines are slow and do not have safety features like cars do. If you come across a machine on the road (such as US101 south of Eureka near Humboldt Hill or Samoa Rd. (CA255) between Arcata and Eureka), please give as much space as possible! If you must travel in the area on Day 1, please avoid the Samoa Bridges! Consult the Offishul Map for these locations to plan your route ahead. Also, please do not attempt to watch the race from the Samoa Bridges, Fernbridge, the Hikshari’ Trail, or any freeway! Please be mindful of homes, businesses, pedestrian right-of-ways, and most importantly, have fun (safely)!

Another note: Sunday night at Crab Beach following the closure of the race for the evening is CLOSED to the public! The racers will arrive tired but elated and will rest well for the final day of the race…
